Heartland Fire & Rescue In El Cajon Celebrates Fire Prevention Week In El Cajon

In celebration of Fire Prevention Week in October, Heartland Fire & Rescue hosts an Fire Open House event in El Cajon every second Saturday in October from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. Every year, these fun activities take place at Fire Station 6 at 100 E. Lexington Avenue.

The goal of this event is to mix fun with life-saving information! Visitors will be treated to a variety of fire rescue demonstrations, such as vehicle extrications, Urban Search & Rescue K-9 demonstrations, Sidewalk CPR demonstrations, and teachings from real 9-1-1 emergency dispatchers. Also, talk with firefighters, paramedics, and law enforcement personnel and tour the emergency vehicles on display.

These three Fire Open House events kick off National Fire Prevention Week which emphasizes the importance of testing smoke alarms at least once a month and changing batteries at least twice a year.
